We watched a video about the village.
1.Where is Mozambique?
It’s in the south east of Africa
2.Where is Ressano Garcia?
Ressano Garcia is on the South African border, 3 km from Komatiport and 89 km from Maputo.
The population lives around the hills next to the River Inkomati, a dangerous river, full of crocodiles. The attack people when they go to collect water or wash their clothes.
Ressano Garcia has got about five thousand inhabitants. They live in a rural and border areas. The rural villages are Movene, Inkomati, Mbobo I, Mbobo II, Chiparango and Chanculo. Most of the people live from coal production and agriculture/farming.
The border village Ressano Garcia is where most of the population lives. Here the people live from trade, the buying and selling of rands (South Africa money), smuggling of goods, ...
Another part of the population is miners and work in the South African miners.
It’s a poor village with colonial buildings run down* over de years. The government doesn’t do very much to improve the conditions such as lack of water, dirt roads, The Catholic church has helped through the Spanish missionaries. Little by little some people are building small houses with block to eliminate the straw houses.

*Run down: En estado de abandono

http://iesaguadulcereligion.blogspot.com/2008/09/conoce-mozambique-villa-de-ressano.htmlOjos de Garzanoreply@blogger.com
